Naseeruddin Shah OTT debut is almost a flop show Kaun Banegi Shekharwati Read Review EntPKS

‘Kaun Banegi Shekharwati’ Review: Zee5 is a famous OTT channel of the country and more than one film and web series have been coming on it for many years. In other languages, the content is still good, but in Hindi, the selectors of the content probably get convinced by looking at the names of the producers that the content will be good. For some time, Zee5’s web series like Sunil Grover’s Sunflower, Divyendu Sharma’s Bicchu Ka Khel or Kunal Khemu’s Abhay, there is not a single series that can be considered as a fully matured product. In this episode, the first web series “Kaun Banegi Shikharvati” starring Naseeruddin Shah was released recently.

In this web series of 10 episodes and about 5 and a half hours long, it seems that now it will be fun, now it will be fun, but this fun ends by the end of the episode itself. Neither Naseer Jame nor Lara or Soha or Kritika are present in this web series written like children. Leave a few moments of one Raghuveer Yadav and leave child artist Alisha Khaire, then the entire series is a great time waste.

Raje Rajwada of Rajasthan has become very modern now. Except some of their traditions, most of the princes have now returned after studying abroad, all of them are engaged in some business or they have started their business by converting one of their palaces into heritage hotels. No prince or princess is filmy or fake anymore. This thing has been properly captured in Kaun Banegi Shikharvati, but looking at the manner in which Naseeruddin Shah has been presented, one thinks that Naseer has done many such characters earlier, then why is this one faded. Naseer seems confused in the role of the king of Shikharvati.

In the beginning of the series, he is seen as a stupid and stupid type of king who is dependent on his friend Numa Secretary Raghuveer Yadav for everything. As the series progresses, Naseer’s character takes on new colors in each episode. It becomes difficult to understand whether Naseer is actually a madman or is pretending to be a madman. To choose the right successor for his legacy, he takes his four daughters (Lara, Soha, Kritika and Anya) from their lives and brings them to Shikharvati.

It is a different matter that all the four daughters are in a hurry to run away from their personal lives. Like fools, games based on Navaras are held and the four daughters participate in them and earn points. In the exercise of finding out who gets the highest marks, many characters enter the story and then also disappear. In the end does Naseer get his successor, that’s the end of the story but you don’t need to find out because it’s not even necessary to show.

The OTT debut of Naseer is extremely poor. Naseer has never agreed to such a weak story and screenplay. Only he knows what has happened this time. Remember the roles of Subedar in Mirch Masala or Hiralal in Hero Hiralal or Raja Chakrasen in Bhavani Bhawai, then the role of Raja Mrityunjay Shikharvati seems to have become anemic. In the flashback scenes, he is shown in the role of an understanding father and king. After the death of his wife, he also fulfills the responsibility of raising his daughters properly. On the contrary, he currently acts like a clown and becomes a serious person in the last two episodes. The graph of any character in Naseer’s life has not been written in such a wasteful manner.

Ananya Banerjee and Simran Sahni (Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui) have written this comedy web series together. One should not try to understand the characters because they will not understand. Lara Dutta has become the eldest daughter who quietly married her classmate and has children. Her husband’s business sinks, he is in debt of crores and he has borrowed money from a number of dons. The amazing thing is that Lara’s character is that of a controlling wife and she doesn’t even get a clue of it. How to accept this thing?

The second daughter is Soha who lives and dances in a dance village. She has two children, Padma and Dhanur, from two different lovers. The funny thing is that their names have been kept on yoga rugs. There is no coordination between their names and their characters. What a wonderful performance by both the kids though. The third daughter is Kritika Kamra, who is a social media influencer and has millions of followers on Clixtagram. Just opposite to his image, this character is so stupid that he does not understand even a simple joke. Fourth daughter Anya Singh is a game designer and is surrounded by many diseases.

It is not considered necessary to explain in the script that how the four sisters who live very lovingly with each other, their mother is the link between them and teaches them to live together, suddenly start disliking each other. Charlie Chaplin-style humor at a dinner hosted by their father, including dyeing their hair, locking them in a fridge, bumping into a waiter, spilling wine on their clothes, and throwing a bottle of wine at a party hosted by the sisters for at least 18 years. Big fight that she leaves the house and goes away? How will it be digested? The audience is also confused as to why these Student of the Year type games have been kept?

Tales of the search for a successor are buried in the Arabian Nights and Jataka tales, it would have been better if he had stayed there. The games are also so childish that the viewers bang their heads. As it happens, all four win two or two games by using their respective skills and during this time remember their old relations with each other and become friends again. There is also an Income Tax officer in this story who disguises himself as a prince and comes with the intention of assessing Naseer’s property. An income tax officer could be so stupid, it was possible only here. Rest of the supporting cast remained ordinary. Raghuveer Yadav is also wasted.

Directed by Ananya Banerjee and Gaurav K. Chawla has done a lot of work together, writing and assistant director. Gaurav made a flop film named “Baazaar”, another poor version of “Wall Street” with Saif Ali Khan and Rohan Mehra. It does not seem that there will be any benefit to the careers of both of them from this web series. By the way, Naseer, Lara, Soha or other actors are not busy these days, so maybe not much money would have been invested in casting, but some money, time and intelligence should have been spent on writing the script as well. Well there are no songs but background music is good. Anurag Saikia is continuously doing good work. There is nothing to remember in the rest of the series, even the cinematography has failed to show the beauty of Rajasthan. It is better if this series deposited yesterday is forgotten like the old kings and kingdoms. Time will be saved.
